The two-day “Felting Workshop” will apply our skills to the creation of our own wearable art piece using nuno felting and botanical prints.

Sign up for both workshops for $600 and save $50.

Space is limited. Please read and understand our Cancellation Policy before registering.

This workshop will be an in-depth exploration of natural dyes and botanical prints and the relationship between them.  We will focus mainly on expanding the classical color spectrum of the leaf print towards much brighter and diverse shades.

During the three-and-a half-day workshop students will be exposed to complex technical aspects of botanical printing and dyeing using all kinds of natural materials such as wool, silk, cotton, rayon and more.

We will learn about mordants for protein and animal fibers.

We will investigate and experiment with botanical dyes such as madder, weld and indigo as well as plants that can be found in our surroundings.

We will be studying different effects of botanical prints from sharp and bold to water color effects and monochromatics.

We will practice symmetrical prints and asymmetrical folding and tying with fabrics and different methods of cooking bundles.

Special attention will be paid to achieving print results in vivid colors.

Felting Workshop • $250
August  1-2, 2015 • 9:00am – 4:00pm

A creative workshop in felt and botanical prints. We will design and felt a top or a scarf using nuno felting and botanical print.

We will felt from wool and then create our own wearable art using the botanical print bundling and eco dyeing techniques.

About Irit Dulman

I was born in Tel Aviv and I am 48. My artistic journey began by studying architecture and interior design for two years. After that I continued in art classes at the Kalisher school of art.

As an Israeli vanguard in using Mac and graphic software I worked in graphic design for many years. When I was 33 I left everything behind and traveled to India, where I met my husband, Idan. A year later we had our first son.

Idan introduced me to the craft of making wool dolls like those he was surrounded by as a child in the Anthroposophical kindergarten. I started making them myself, and went on to learn more combined and complex techniques like wet felting.

In 2008 I entered the world of fashion with a collection of bags and scarves sold in exclusive boutiques in Tel Aviv and New York. After that I was invited to collaborate with designer Ayala Zarfaty on lighting fixtures and furniture in felt.

When I emerged as an independent artist I added a new element – natural dyeing. I find it opens vast possibilities when working with natural materials.

The workshops I teach around the world in felting techniques, coloring, dyeing and eco-printing are a wonderful place to meet and connect with new people who bring their expertise and I learn from them all the time.
